Helicopter Set-up

Using a helicopter set-up on leadcore has to be the safest way to fish it, as the hooklength can easy pass of the end and is not attached to the leadcore.

Step 1
Take a Thinking Anglers ready tied leadcore leader or one you have spliced yourself, and pass through lead one off the loops and then pass the other loop through that one and pull tight.

Step 2

Run a rig sleeve and a 5mm oval bead down the leadcore using a splicing needle to put these on.

Step 3
Next place your hooklength on followed by another 5mm oval bead.

Step 4
Rig completed, position the beads on the spliced bit of the leadcore these grips them better and without any need for a back stop. Once fish has picked rig up the beads can pull onto the un-spliced leadcore and move with ease.

Extra tips

1.
Cut the swivel from your lead so the rig sleeve sits alot neater.

2.
Place a small piece of putty on your mainline above leadcore so the last piece sit down as the spliced bit has no lead in it.
